Tree of Life #2 24 x 30 Acrylic on Canvas $695.00 The Tree of Life represents the cycles of life on many levels; the beginning, the experience and the end. I created my first version of the Tree of Life in 2003 in chalk pastels. It has been the most popular piece of work I have created thus far. Hundreds of print reproductions of this particular design are hanging on walls all over the world. Grasping this thought completely is bewildering, humbling, heartwarming and amazing all at the same time. I chose to re-create the Tree of Life primarily to demonstrate my new technique, no brushes required, finger painting with acrylic paint. My techniques have evolved over the last six years. Much like a tree, humans experience various cycles in life. Some move through the seasons easier than others. As long as anyone or anything is alive, growth and change occurs. Life experience can alter ones perspective. Some things can be seen with more clarity and other things now require bifocals. Having looked at the Tree of Life for some time now, there were certain aspects of the piece I wanted to change or improve upon.

Emotional Translation 36x36 Acrylic on Canvas $1,200.00 Emotions come in all colors. The intensity and vibrancy of an emotion can leave a permanent mark. These imprints are filed away nicely in our brains until something releases them to the forefront of our thoughts. Since we are not equipped with a delete and dump the trash function, I suppose acceptance of these emotions is the best way to go. On the positive side, a multihued background or life experience can produce colorful art in any genre. Life will produce emotions. Choosing how to translate the emotions is unique.
May Enchantment 20x16 Acrylic on Canvas $300.00 Technically spring begins in March, but in the Rocky Mountain Region chances you may not see spring until May. Winter is cold, the grass is dormant and the trees are bare. The color of nature is gray and white; mostly blue skies and deceptive sunshine that misleads you to exit your home without sufficient outerwear. The floral spectrum of May is refreshing and enchanting to the senses. This piece was inspired by a booming plant capturing my attention as I drove through a residential neighborhood. The striking colors and lacy nature of the petals commanded my awareness. The warm conditions, green grass and trees with dense leaves are indicators that spring has arrived with life renewed.
Drifting Thoughts 16x20 Acrylic on Canvas $300.00 These are my thoughts moving and drifting from one to the next smoothly transitioning from one to the other and then dropping. The mind can contain more information than humans can calculate. The complexity is beyond overwhelming yet intriguing all at the same time. In the art making process, it is nice to be on the surface of the canvas; focusing just on the colors and the texture of the paint. When we dream of water it can symbolically represent our current emotional state. Is the water crystal clear and calm or is it producing rough high waves pounding against the rocks? Within this piece the water is still enough to see the ripples that are forming from what is either coming to the surface from below or gently landing from above. Life is a combination of many variables that never produces the same result; hence our uniqueness.
Abundance of Mind 30x30 Acrylic on Canvas, Framed $850.00 Historically purple is the color of power and strength, often seen associated with royalty. The energy of this piece encourages power and strength to move through whatever current challenge you may be facing. Kings, Queens and the greatest leaders of the past and present are not without their own challenges; they are just self-empowered to move through them. To be abundant and blooming may appear to be easier for some than others, but the fact is all of us deal with our own challenges, some more difficult than others and each of us have a system of tactics to get through these times. It is our nature as a living organism to survive, so we find a way.
The Connection 45x24 Acrylic on Canvas $995.00 The Aspen Trees are one of my favorites and many of my own trees look as if they are literally bleeding. There is a beetle that has infested many of the regions trees causing the trees to die before their normal life expectancy. I claim no expertise on Aspens or any other tree. My knowledge is pretty basic, but my love and appreciation is huge. The Aspens in a grove are interconnected to one another yet stand alone as an individual. A grove of Aspens trees are considered to be one of the world’s largest living organisms. In many ways I think humans are like the Aspens. Humans can stand alone as an individual but what we do or do not do, will affect those around us. We have many great things on this earth to appreciate, trees just being one of them. I think it is important to remember to be conscious of everything and everyone that surrounds us; to avoid taking any of it for granted. Life guarantees two things, a beginning and an end.
Filtered View 24x18 Acrylic on Canvas $400.00 Windows have many functions. They allow light to enter and the opportunity to see beyond an otherwise solid surface. In order for flowers to bloom, light is required. I believe this is true for humans as well. To “see the light”, in a metaphorical sense moves one forward.
Tropical Appeal
16x20 Acrylic on Canvas $300.00 This piece was inspired by the artificial tropical setting of the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster Colorado. The tropical stage within, surrounded by snow outside, even confuses the butterflies. These wondrous creatures hatched within an artificial paradise, cluster towards the windows where a sheet of glass divides the two completely different environments. I am sure there are scientific reasons why the butterflies’ are flocking to the windows, none of which include, the snow is whiter on the other side of the glass.
